Ovarian Cancer Australia is the peak national body for ovarian cancer in Australia.
The key to survival with ovarian cancer is early detection through awareness.
Our brief was to deliver a campaign around the K.I.S.S principal which in this instance stands for Know the Important Signs and Symptoms of ovarian cancer. The message needed to get to as many people as possible using Valentines Day, a very traditional kissing day on the calendar using Facebook as the primary medium.
A social media campaign promoting an iPhone app that would increase self awareness of the disease and make it easy for those potentially in the very early stages of ovarian cancer to track their symptoms. The application needed to have mainstream appeal to reach a wider audience and further assist in delivering the Ovarian Cancer Australia K.I.S.S message. To increase its mainstream appeal, we added a make up tip section and named the application K.I.S.S & Make up.
Red Crayon worked in conjunction with Haystac, Ovarian Cancer Australia’s PR agency to design and develop a custom Facebook application. The application was the primary activation component of the campaign and worked hand in hand with a serious Public Relations campaign.
The KISS campaign was picked up by every breakfast TV program across Australia and many of the breakfast radio shows as well. The campaign increased awareness, delivered thousands of shares across Facebook and vital data was collected to further enhance the research effort against ovarian cancer.
