The University of Melbourne
The University of Melbourne is the premier tertiary institution in Australia. Red Crayon was appointed to create a digital portal to engage prospective students to the School of Engineering & IT. The portal had to offer potential students an interactive experience that illustrates the variety of engineering & IT disciplines at the university, profiles current students and alumni, proves information on course options, careers outcomes and the practical aspect of the degree.
EngIT was born! The design solution was to create a visually appealing and easily navigable interface that would resonate with the target demographic, house audio/visual content of interviews/projects/experiments, and 360 degree tours of the laboratories for an extra immersive layer. A quiz featuring vibrant, custom illustrations directs prospects to the most befitting disciplines. We recommended a web-based experience, enabling dynamic updates through a CMS, ease of content refresh and linking to online data. Built in HTML5 on a WordPress CMS, the portal is responsive to desktop, mobile and tablet format for an offline app when the Future Students team travel abroad. As well as the design and development of the app, Red Crayon handled content generation including all filming and post-production of the AV content. Augmented reality will be incorporated onto O-Week posters to seamlessly connect students to the EngIT experience.
While EngIT has not yet launched, the client has been wrapped with the process and is excited to show the public. Watch this space!
